This week is September 29th

Kristi and Matt came to visit!  After their long weekend in Portlandia, they came up and stayed with us for the week and explored Seattle!

They did some very cool things, like go the Space Needle and hike to the top of Mount Pilchuck.  The trailhead for Mount Pilchuck is only about 45 minutes from our house, in the Cascade Mountains.  You can hike all the way to the top, a little over 5,000 feet.  Kristi and Matt could smell the smoke from the forest fires!  There are some of the most beautiful views from up there.

Kristi and I went on a tour of the Chateau St. Michelle Winery and did a wine tasting together.  It was so much fun!  The winery is only about 15 minutes from our house in the neighboring town of Woodinville.  The grounds were gorgeous but I didn't think to take any pics of that.  DUH

I will next time!

We wanted to do another harbour cruise, as you all know, it is one of our favorite things to do with our friends and family that come visit.  Well, due to terrible traffice, we had to skip it and come up with plan B.

It was the Ferris Wheel!  They call it the "Seattle Great Wheel" so Kristi and I enjoyed referring to it as that the entire time.

Steve was white-knuckled and sweating the whole time but he said it was a cool view and did like a little bit of it, as much as you can expect from someone who is afraid of heights!

We went to our favorite restaurant for local seafood, The Oyster House.  This time we had to have dessert and it was so pretty but tasted even better.

The week went by so fast and our super fun visit was over before we knew it.  :(

Take care everyone and we miss you!

This week is September 22nd

Well we are a busy little family!  Thankfully the sports are nearly over (sorry boys) and we will have our evenings and weekends back!

This week is all about our trip down to Portland!  When Kristi and Matt came to visit, they spent a long weekend down there and we met them downtown for a night.  We stayed at a cool hotel called The Vintage Plaza.

Portland is a small city and some people call it "mini Seattle".   We are not sure we agree with that... Portland is also very... different.  Bumper stickers that say "Keep Portland Weird" and the show "Portlandia" pretty much sum things up!  They have lots of great restaurants and coffee, though and it is a cool place to visit.

No trip to Portland is complete without a visit to Voodoo Donuts!  OMG I have never even thought of the all the things you can put into or on a donut, but they sure have.  Matt had one with Captain Crunch all over it and we had an Elvis Special with peanut butter, bananas and chocolate chips!

We ate dinner at a place that Steve recommended called Deschutes Brewery. He has been to Portland twice on business so we took his word for it and we were so glad we did.  The food and atmosphere were awesome.

About 45 minutes from Portland is an avaition museum called Evergreen down in McMinnville.  The big draw for this place is that they have Spruce Goose, Howard Hughes' plane.  Holy crow that thing is gargantuan and it was cool to actually see it.  The man had issues though, because it just borders on ridiculous.

This was a huge aviation and aerospace museum as well.  They had some incredible displays and it was interesting to see it all.

We hope everyone is well and our visit with Kristi and Matt is on my next week's entry!

This week is September 9th

So we had a very very very busy September!!  Steve's parents, Nick and Sally, came to visit and we had a great time!

Of course we went to the market!  It is our favorite place to take our family and friends.  We also did something really cool... the Argosy Locks Cruise!  You take a cruise through Lake Union and then go through the lock and end up in the Puget Sound.  It was very fun and we saw lots of cool stuff....

Like the Sleepless in Seattle house!  (it's the one that has the red-trimmed windows on the left hand side)

AAANNNDDD....

The boats from Deadliest Catch!  The Wizard was getting a paint job.

Okay so back to the family!

It was so much fun having them here!

They are very proud of their big boy!

The grandparents also got to catch one of Carter's soccer games!

We played a little Farkle while Carter did his warm up.  It's 45 minutes so this was a good way to pass the time.....

Carter played very hard this game....

We cannot wait for more friends and family to visit and see our cool city!

Have a great week!!

This Week is September 2nd

Once again I am a little behind, but we had another interesting week here in Snohomish!

Kyle had his 12th birthday and invited some dudes over to have pizza and cake, see a movie and have a sleepover.  They saw "ParaNorman" and it was pretty funny.  The boys all loved it!  They stayed up late talking and farting (literally... they told us all about it during breakfast... yikes) and I think a good time was had by all.

Carter had a soccer tournament this weekend.  They placed third and they played well!  They have only had a few practices and Carter hasn't played in a year so he is a little rusty!  The rest of the season should be fun and hopefully we won't get drenched this Fall when the rain comes back to Seattle.

Steve and Kyle got 3-day passes for PAX this weekend in Seattle.  That is the Penny Arcade Expo... they were trying to make up for missing GenCon in Indy this year.  They had a good time getting their game and geek on together!  It was nothing compared to GenCon though, so they are already planning their trip out to Indy next August!

If you are wondering, Steve is wearing a mustache..it is on a chain and he can use it when appropriate.  (no, I don't know when that is, exactly)  the boys call him "Stove" when he wears it... much like Michael Knight's alter ego, Garthe.

We hope everyone had a great week!!
